Speech: Steven Hawking - my hero.

Speech: Steven Hawking - my hero.

I choose to do my speech about professor Steven Hawking. I admire him because he is very smart.

Steven Hawking is a cosmologist and he lives in England. He is suffering from a disease known as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) which paralyses him. He is unable to move or speak. He drives a wheelchair and uses a special computer that talks for him. Those devices help him to live an active life.

I found out about Mr Hawking when I watched a movie with my dad, called "Steven Hawking's Universe". It was very interesting.

In the program a lot of scientists show how a long time ago people used to thought about our world. People claimed that the world was flat and the Earth was in the centre of the Universe. Years later Nicholas Copernicus discovered that the Sun was, in fact, in the centre of Solar System.

Many decades later other scientists found out that our Solar System is only a part of the Universe which is expanding with an extreme speed.

The program covered many difficult areas like mater and anti-mater, black holes, Einstein's theory of general relativity and many, many more. A lot of them were too hard for me to understand.

I watched this show with an astonishment. I couldn't believe that Steven Hawking was able to prepare such fantastic movie.

I think, someone like him must be very special, and that is why I choose him to be my HERO. I wish I could be as smart as he is.

I hope you all have learned something about my hero.
